Visiting St Peter's Cathedral in Vatican City
Vatican is a unique city-state within Rome. It is also a home to one of the biggest church complexes in the world. Originally built in 4th century by first Christian Roman Emperor it was not reconstructed until mid15th century.
At the age of 72, Michelangelo was asked to finish designing the Cathedral by the Pope Paul III. The artist deigned a colossal dome for the Cathedral.
Bernini designed the Piazza San Pietro which gives this gigantic church truly grand settings. The half circles you see from both side of the column symbolize embracing arm to welcome pilgrims.There are 284 columns to support the structure.
Climb the dome!
An absolute must-do experience. Yes, the climb might be long with lots of stairs and narrow tunnels but they views are so worth every single step.
